Thank you for your interest in the 2022 APHA Youth World Games & Team USA.

Before you begin your application, you will need the following:

- 60 to 90 minutes to devote to creating a thorough and complete application
- Two letters of recommendation (one personal, one horsemanship)
- A photo of yourself or you and a horse (to be used in Team USA promotions--no selfies please)
- 2-3 minute video of your riding (submit a Youtube, Vimeo or Dropbox link)
- A credit card to pay the $45 application fee

- riding multiple horses of different skill levels
- riding patterns for pattern classes on different horses

We will review your video to evaluate your riding/showing skills. This video does not need to be professionally prepared.

Please ask two people—not members of your family—to write letters of recommendation. One should be familiar with your horsemanship/riding skills and one should have observed you in a leadership or cooperative position with your peers. These letters are extremely important to the Team USA Selection Committee. Your application is incomplete if you don't upload two letters of recommendation.

SECTION 5: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Please write an original, one-page essay describing how you will contribute to Team USA and AjPHA/APHA’s international relations through this event.

SECTION 6: TEAM USA MEMBER AGREEMENT & CODE OF CONDUCT

Team USA Member Agreement

  • If selected as a member of Team USA, I agree to abide by any and all rules of Team USA, the APHA/AjPHA, and the AjPHA Youth World Games. 
  • I understand that I will be governed and supervised by the Team USA Coach & Manager, APHA Director of Youth Activities and any other chaperones during my participation in the APHA Youth World Games. 
  • I understand that I will be asked to sign an agreement to abide by a strict set of rules and behavior as a member of Team USA and that my parents will also be asked to agree to support these rules. 
  • I understand that failure to comply with these rules or the instructions of my coach, manager, APHA staff and/or chaperones in the interest of my safety and security or the representation of the USA and the APHA would result in disciplinary action and subsequent dismissal from the team and that I will be sent home at my own expense. 
  • I understand that I will be responsible for my own travel expenses to and from the event. 
  • I also understand that my parents and I will be required to sign additional release as customary for travel and equine competition. 
  • I also understand that if I ride for Team USA in the 2022 APHA Youth World Games I will be ineligible to ride for Team USA in a future Youth World Games. 
  • I either currently hold a passport that is valid through October 2022 OR am able to attain a valid passport by July 2022. 
  • I am a member in good standing of the AjPHA and I am a citizen of the United States.

I understand and agree to follow and promote the AjPHA Code of Conduct. 

I understand that I am subject to disciplinary action if I am found to have violated APHA’s rules regarding unsportsmanlike conduct.

I understand that I am subject to disciplinary action if I am found to have participated in verbal, physical, written or cyber abuse or bullying; threatening to destroy or actual destruction of property; libel or slander; illegal drug use, underage drinking or tobacco use.

I understand that I am subject to disciplinary action if I am found to have broken the law. 

I understand that I may be subject to disciplinary action if I choose to conduct myself in a manner that is inconsistent with the rules, objectives and ideals of the American Paint Horse Association.
